Over the past five weeks I have had the privilege to intern with MCH London and as the experience comes to an end, I have been taking some time to reflect on my progress. Coming into this internship, I had no idea what projects I would be working on, and I was eager to discover how I would be contributing to the company. On day one, I was quickly met with a brief on my first project, attended my first team meeting, and two client meetings. It was a very busy day, but that set the precedent for the next five weeks. I quickly realised that MCH is a company focused on the client by exceeding their expectations and delivering promising results.
A bit about me, I am a third year Finance and Accounting student at the Leeds School of Business at the University of Colorado Boulder. Outside of the classroom, I am a member of the Scholars of Finance club where I grow my professional skills through workshops, attend speaker series events, and connect with industry professionals.
One of the most significant lessons I learned from my time here is the importance of making independent decisions. At MCH, you are not given a step by step instruction manual. Instead you are given a brief that contains context and a direction, the actionable steps are reliant on you. Early on this felt uncomfortable, I discovered I was too comfortable with detailed instructions and needed to make critical decisions with my own reasoning. This pushed me to think more independently and make decisions with confidence. This lesson has left me with a valuable skill that will help me throughout the rest of my life.
The project I am most proud of is the AI Visibility Scorecard, a 20 question assessment tool built through ScoreApp. This tool is designed to help SME business owners understand how visible their company is to AI powered search engines. This project is currently live and functional, which made it feel like a genuine contribution that will bring value to MCH. On this project I researched AI visibility as an emerging concept, developed a questionnaire strategy that would deliver real results, and learned how to design a landing page that would engage the audience. Each step felt like adding a new skill to my toolbox. By the end, I had learned how to take something from just an idea to a fully developed tool.
Another one of my projects was building a lead generation list from MCH’s extensive network. This involved engineering a structured prompt to run a large dataset through Claude that cleaned the data and classified over 2,200 contacts into specific client profiles. This process took multiple rounds of refinement to deliver a final product, and was one of the more time intensive projects I worked on. Once Claude delivered the final result, I manually reviewed the classifications and generated a lead list full of high quality contacts. The combination of analytical thinking and independent judgement this project required is something I will implement in my future work, it is exactly the kind of data driven decision making I am looking forward to applying to my professional career.
Finally, I developed a PPC data analysis displaying an eight month progression of an MCH client. This gave me exposure into how paid media performance is evaluated across an extensive period of time. I was able to use my analytical skills from my university coursework and apply them to a real client account, pulling together campaign insights and performance metrics to showcase the journey of the campaign, highlighting how results progressed and key achievements were reached over time based on MCH’s strategy.
What brought everything together was the team. MCH operates across four different countries with a fully global set up. Immediately, I was surprised by how connected everyone was with each other despite the global separation. From day one, I felt welcomed and a respected member of the team. Everyone was approachable, invested in the projects I was working on, and willing to give honest feedback. Without this team I would not have been able to succeed and grow as much as I did.
If you are considering this internship, be ready to take initiative. The work is real, the responsibility is real, and most importantly the learning is real. I am walking away after only five weeks with practical skills, valuable relationships, and a clear understanding of the direction I want to take my career. Thank you to Mark and the whole MCH team for making the past five weeks such a valuable experience.
