After five extremely speedy and engaging weeks interning at MCH, what I’m taking away is that: more does happen with MCH.
Whether you are a client, employee, or summer intern the team at MCH will make you feel like a partner from day one. Their values of transparency, clarity, and service (among others), extend into every aspect of their business. MCH doesn’t make promises, they act and deliver exceptional results and quality care that make anyone feel welcome. Five weeks ago, when I walked onto the team for a short stay, I would never have imagined that I would feel so sad to leave it. Not only was I challenged, both creatively and professionally, I was guided and shown how to do things. It is apparent to anyone who works in and around this team that it’s more than just a service they’re providing, it’s a team of exceptional people who do exceptional things every day.
One of my first project briefs within MCH was to develop their new pricing structure. Our intern team quickly realized this would be nearly impossible with the available information. Mark, our sociable and invested supervisor, allowed us to create a new vision and take the brief in our own direction. Over time, our brief developed into creating extensive market research, a new landing page for the MCH website, and a series of linkedin posts that curate meaningful images to display our new value propositions. The careful guidance, but also hands off approach from the lead team at MCH, allowed us to take ownership and responsibility over these tasks and to leave MCH knowing we created meaningful, insightful, and quality work. I have left MCH feeling proud of all that I was able to accomplish and the connections I was able to make, confident for the next step in my business career, and grateful that I was paired with such an accepting and hardworking team. From the roundtable working style, to weekly team check-ins, there is no doubt that MCH is connected, not only with their clients, but with each other.
When I signed up to come to England for the summer all the way from the University of Colorado, I knew that I wanted to gain industry experience and learn about other working cultures. However, I was unsure what impact I would be able to have on a company. What I learned is that MCH creates a space where everyone can safely share their ideas, where work is valued, and every member plays as big a role as the next. I am happy to say that my contributions to MCH will be visible across multiple platforms; an opportunity I know few others can replicate. This would not be possible without the open and accepting nature of MCH, where asking questions and making mistakes is not looked down upon, but celebrated within the open team culture.
To anyone else who may be given the extraordinary opportunity to be a part of this team, I advise you to take it. Join the team that routes for you, invests in your success, and values each contribution you make. While I’m only at the beginning of my career, I have no doubt that anyone within MCH would help me along the way. MCH’s commitment to meaningful engagement, collaboration, and high-impact work extends to every member of the team – including its interns – proving that ‘more can happen with MCH’ is not just a tagline, but a genuine part of the experience.
